For more than four decades, Dickey has focused his research and his practice on the advancing edge of medical science, bringing back the best practices and most important improvements to his patients.

When the future didn't offer something good enough, Dickey went out and invented what he needed to improve patient care. Among his many accomplishments, Dickey was the primary surgeon designer of the Rotating Platform Total Knee, a developer of Minimal Incision Total Knee replacement surgery, a developer of Minimal Incision Total Hip replacement surgery, a surgeon designer in Revision Total Hip Implants, as well as a director and teacher of the Orthopedic Resident Surgeon Review Course. Dickey also helped develop the first of the now ubiquitous short-leg wakers, which basically serve as removable casts.

Innovation and education have been twin hallmarks of Dickey's career. A graduate of the University of Florida, where he played on its football team for three years, and the University of Florida College of Medicine, Dickey moved to Dallas. In addition to opening Orthopedic Specialists, Dickey has served as a Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, where he taught hundreds of residents the fundamentals of their future profession.

While knowledge, innovation and experience are important elements in a doctor's curative arsenal, but Dickey has always believed one vital aspect is a solid relationship with respect flowing between doctor and patient. One of Dickey's greatest joys is to show someone around his office, where he has displayed gifts given to him by grateful patients.

Dickey enjoys interacting with his patients every day he comes into work and looks forward to meeting even more new people and helping them to walk out of his office free of pain.
